That would be utterly stupid on their part though. Nuke the US and they reduce the value of the US treasuries they're holding and greatly increase the chance of a default, not to mention risking retaliation.

Neither China or any other country is going to start "lobbing nukes".

Iran is a petulant child and will be kicked into touch without it escalating into a global conflict as will Israel.

Armed conflict is in no-one's best interest.

I agree, but the whole world seems to be getting their hands on nukes, and if an instable place like Pakistan, or some lunatic in Iran lobs one into Israel/India, well, it will all kick off. I am worried about fundamentalism overriding sanity

Could everyone stop being so pessimistic please - I have a hangover and so am on a downer anyway and this is not helping my state of mind.
We don't have to save the world. The world is big enough to look after itself. What we have to be concerned about is whether or not the world we live in will be capable of sustaining us in it.

As long as a country is led by someone who has accountability to the rest of the population. Israel has such accountability, North Korea does not, Iran is closer to North Korea than it is to Israel

Any kind of "nuclear exchange" involving Pakistan, Iran, Israel or India will remain localised and end very quickly.

There's more likely to be an "accident" in that region than a full scale exchange.

India isn't frightened of Pakistan, that's not why India has Nukes. The Indian Nukes are there to ensure China doesn't do anything too stupid.

There's some doubt as to whether or not North Korea has actually tested a Nuke. In some circles it is believed that the yield was so low in their tests that they could've just buried a few tonnes of conventional explosives.

Is Kim Jong Il mad enough to start a war? Undoubtedly. Does he have the means? Not too sure on that one.

A recent study concluded that a regional conflict involving India and Pakistan dropping 50 bombs each would kill about a billion people because the atmospheric disturbance would disrupt the global food supply and people all over the world would starve.

Since when do the people get to vote on big things like wars?

                      Hypothetical.

There will never be a Nuclear exchange between India and Pakistan. It's in no-ones interest.
