The successful UK migrants in Oz are the ones who have forgotten the UK and become Aussies in their hearts. There are plenty here that can't let go of the UK despite having been here in Oz years and years. They are the ones who whinge and never settle.

What do they whinge about?
Too hot?
Too deadly (everything is poisonous)?
No 'decent' food (used to UK food, so it's their taste buds not the food that's the problem)?
Cost of living (everywhere costs just enough to fleece the average worker of all their money, strange that
)?
Too far away (from family and friends, who won't visit no matter how much they promise to, due to cost of flights)?
Maybe those looking to move to the other side of the world should do a 6 month expat induction in Spain first.Feist - 1234. One camera, one take, no editing. Superb. How they did it

Most of them miss UK pubs, UK banter and easy access to Europe for holidays.Originally posted by PAH View PostWhat do they whinge about?

Is this a new show?? Hardly groundbreaking... the programming budgets must really be sufferring!
I vaguely remember watching a TV show around a year ago about expats who were fed up because life in Oz wasn't all it was cracked up to be and they wanted to come home. It followed their trips to the UK, house hunting and their final decision making...It's about time I changed this sig...Comment

Plan B (zzzz actually). lifeswap.co.uk
Swappers need to be in similar professions and be willing to swap houses and jobs for 6 months, subject to paperwork, employers permissions etc. Boomed*
* Oz swappers are required to hire their own bailiffs to remove UK swappers from their jobs and homes at the end of the termComment

You mean Linkers Bar hasn't cleaned up down there yet? They seem to be in many European resorts now.
If the 'Irish' pubs can find a market abroad surely there's room for 'English' ones. Plan B opportunity?
Daily papers, real ale, proper pub grub, pork scratchings, dart board, sky sports, barmaids with massive norks, traditional name such as Red Lion.
What else would it need?Feist - 1234. One camera, one take, no editing. Superb. How they did it

Looks like Australians are not very competitive then if the're paying themselves more for less hours.Originally posted by DimPrawn View PostTrue, but for most of them they can work half the number of hours and overall have more money at the end of the month taking into account taxes and bills. In the UK they are working themselves to death and at the end of the month have fook all to spend!
As we all know now there ain't such a thing as a free lunch so eventually Oz will become uncompetitive and then all the young competitive Ozzies will want to come over here - oh wait ......
Hard Brexit now!

I saw another one a few years ago which followed expats settling into Oz. They all seemed to make the mistake of buying a flash house and a new car before establishing a solid income stream.Originally posted by MrRobin View PostIs this a new show?? The one success story I remember was where the wife was nagging the chap to get his boat business sorted out and meanwhile realised that nobody was selling hair extensions in OZ, so she created the market herself, got the sole rights as an importer and it took off big style. He eventually got off his backside and won a big fishing competition, which got him in with the locals, and we assume did a lot for his business.Behold the warranty -- the bold print giveth and the fine print taketh away.Comment

They don't need to work very hard, they have billions of tonnes of commodities under the ground to sell which means life over there is easy street.Originally posted by sasguru View PostLooks like Australians are not very competitive then if the're paying themselves more for less hours.
