Quantum effects can also be ruled out based on the spread of times the neutrinos arrive. And the fact that they are always too fast, not sometimes too fast and other times too slow.

Most profound thing in the last 100 years or more if it's right, rewriting physics; the usual. He's got no idea.Comment

Of course, if you were going to pick a particle for faster than light or time travel, one that doesn't interact with other matter much would be most useful.
A matter of time (scuse the pun) before someone starts using them for terrestrial communication as well, i expect. While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'Comment

Asking a well-known physicist about some specialized area of physics is like asking one of us to explain over the phone why some piece of software we never used isn't working... it's a massive field.Originally posted by TimberWolf View PostHe's got no idea.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

That's a good idea. No wires, tunnels, cables needed.Originally posted by doodab View PostOf course, if you were going to pick a particle for faster than light or time travel, one that doesn't interact with other matter much would be most useful.

If that were possible to build neutrino transmitter / receiver, satellites would become obsolete overnight.Originally posted by doodab View PostA matter of time (scuse the pun) before someone starts using them for terrestrial communication as well, i expect."Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience". I'm sure it's possible. We can already send and receive them, it's just really, really, really difficult. So were many other things you now consider disposable gadgets.
However, travelling at 0.00001% faster than light isn't any more exciting for communication than travelling AT the speed of light.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment
