Well it might appear to be unacceptable to YOU Herr Schroder, but to me it is perfectly acceptable.Schröder: Yes. I was originally of the opinion that Great Britain could be treated like France. But what was overlooked, also by myself, is that Great Britain still sees itself in a sort of middle position between the United States on one side and Europe on the other. In other words, it's in an "in-between" position. And that is unacceptable
For the record, Great Britain patently IS in a sort of middle position between the US and Europe, and long may it remain so.
Because in negotiating this position we have fulfilled the main prerequisite of successful sovereign power, in putting the interests of ourselves first. Just because we have taken measures to safeguard ourselves from much of the fallout from the failed economic experiment that is the Euro, does not mean we are being obstructive. It means we have played with our heads, and what we are hearing from this pair of disgruntled mittel-european troughsnufflers is simply the sour grapes concerto!!“The period of the disintegration of the European Union has begun. And the first vessel to have departed is Britain”Comment

In Germany the poorest are on social security, they get £77 a week, in the UK they get £65. So the discrepancy between Germany and the UK is £12 a week.I'm alright JackComment

Just don't ask the folks in Edinburgh to project manage it, else you'll get a very expensive horse and carts which get damaged by the rails and pot-holes from the uncompleted tram system...Originally posted by scooterscot View PostAnd another thing. Who wants well healed? I want affordability. Good reliable public services. 10 years from now you'll be arguing we have equality when the tram system is replaced by horse & cart and a monorail is whizzing round EC1"I can put any old tat in my sig, put quotes around it and attribute to someone of whom I've heard, to make it sound true."
