Ideally you should set the domain for the cookie to the fqdn or cookies will apply to all subdomains.

But as a workaround the link I posted earlier should work.

all systems are hostname.domain.domain.com as is the case in the .Net world in client co's

so what's the solution ? configure ie to focus on the nth layer of the fqdn ?

No you need to set the cookies and session variables on that nth layer of the fqdn. You could always get your infrastructure people to create cname aliases for the uat server I would be very surprised if they haven't done that already for other departments.
merely at clientco for the entertainment

What happens if you use new session rather than new tab/window?

Internet Explorer 8 "New Session" - Softpedia

Or am I being my usual non-techy numpty self?

I hates the tabs and only ever opens up new browsers

                  and still the same problem

looks like we gotta switch off domain relaxation in the logon tickets

but that was implemented cos of another problem

                  oh well

anyway, Eek the Geek, it totally makes sense what you say, thanks,

                  Milan.
