Habeas Corpus. Or did Tony B Liar get rid of that?

And, the absence of laws dictating that you constantly carry ID cards, as most of western Europe's sheeple are required to do.

Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

The other good thing about going out to eat in Britain is that generally the service will be fairly good. That's probably because a lot of British restaurateurs and publicans have no hesitation in hiring staff from overseas, especially Aussie and South African students and Eastern Europeans, who appreciate the jobs. Here in Holland restaurant owners complain about being unable to find motivated staff; many local yoofs are simply too far up their own arses to want to serve people but customers complain if they hire a motivated foreigner who doesn't yet speak Dutch. I know one restaurant owner near Amsterdam who has simply given up on local staff and is now attracting staff from Greece; young, motivated people who need the work and are naturally cheerful and good at service, and speak English; he tells customers 'you can have good service or service in your own language; your choice'.
