Looks like wxman is kipping (no GPS update for 5 hours), on the Emerald Isle. 35 mph winds jostling his rented van, for which it mystifies me how he gets insurance. Irene is expected to be a category 1 (92 mph) storm by landfall now.

Wxman is up again, same location near the coast. 35 mph winds, and by coincidence is only a couple of miles away from a place called Beaufort. Choppy seas no doubt. Nearby webcam images look dark.

Daybreak at Atlantic Beech. We have lost power so I am on battery. End of pier has gone as really impressive waves pound the beech. No flooding that I can see from my location. Power lines down across road and roofing material is strew around.

for a CAT1 Irene seems actually quite powerful.

My web cam is up but only for as long as the battery lasts

Cool - it's working. You're out of the projected path of the storm at Emerald Isle though?

All I can see is the inside of a Denny's and someone eating a bagel. Go and plug your battery back in Wxman.

I like the way they started to neatly store them at the ends and my the time they get to the middle it looks as if they have just thrown them in from the side.

I bet the boss left halfway through the job after telling them they could go when they were finished.

It's a very smart idea though. I wonder if it's the normal response or someone just thought of it.

Yeah, it's not switched on, and the storm has mostly passed wxman now. It was good fun for surfers I expect.

Did the trailers in Block drive and probably dotted all around the area survive?
