Water cooled VW 1.6d or a Pug 1.9d will fit. 46 mpg I am told, and you get a heater."A people that elect corrupt politicians, imposters, thieves and traitors are not victims, but accomplices," George Orwell -
Mercedes Sprinter conversion - The Pampy Camper | Campervan LifeOriginally posted by milanbenes View PostIn Germany and abroad,
I've seen German registered Merc Sprinters (guess the coach builder is in Germany)
and
for all intents and purposes they look like a normal black or white Merc
Sprinter panel van,
but they have a few subtle clues, like ventilation points and the odd blacked out
window
and inside they are luxurious campers but because of their modesty they don't attract
the attention of the big white plastic lump campers
anyone else seen this, who is the coach builder ?

Firstly - VW beetles are utter tulipe, herbie has a lot to answer for.
Secondly, campers - Don't be fooled because they look cool. Mate had one and despite the fact it was more comfortable to sleep in the roof of than the tent the rest of the crew were in, I wouldn’t recommend it. Fair enough, they are good as a day only van but why not just drive and visit a café….
Novelty soon ran out when it kept breaking down, they are ancient and cars this old were dodgy then and worse now.
Defo rent or be prepared to spend money and time on it, while it sits on your drive rotting. Still, another mug will likely give you close to what you paid for it – maybe. Every journey will include the bonus of wondering at just what point are your going to come to a grinding halt at the side of the road, still the AA can help with that.Comment

On the plus side, the AA will be expecting it to break down too, so you can get free transport to a destination of your choice by driving round the corner, phoning them up, and getting a free tow.
Saves a fortune on the fuel. I did the same with my TVR.
