My Mum & Dad had a Bedford Dormobile when I was a kid. Fond memories indeed.

A mate of mine used to have one of these:

It wasn't a camper van but we kipped in it a couple of times. Not the most comfortable thing in the world. While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'Comment

The ones I've been looking at are based on the Mercedes Sprinter chassis so just a smaller version but you get the idea!Originally posted by Paddy View Post...my quagmire of greed....my cesspit of laziness and unfairness....all I am doing is sticking two fingers up at nurses, doctors and other hard working employed professionals...

In Germany and abroad,
I've seen German registered Merc Sprinters (guess the coach builder is in Germany)
and
for all intents and purposes they look like a normal black or white Merc
Sprinter panel van,
but they have a few subtle clues, like ventilation points and the odd blacked out
window
and inside they are luxurious campers but because of their modesty they don't attract
the attention of the big white plastic lump campers
anyone else seen this, who is the coach builder ?

I have seen them with a VW Diesel engine and auto gearbox fitted.Originally posted by Peoplesoft bloke View PostI had a 1979 type 2 van for a while. It was slow, thirsty and unreliable and rusty. I sold mine before the became a cult."A people that elect corrupt politicians, imposters, thieves and traitors are not victims, but accomplices," George OrwellComment

I bought the missus a 79 Westfalia for her 40th - imported from California so it was rust free and restored locally. Spent a bit more than I wanted to but once you start these things there is always something else to spend your money on. The only mistake we made was get a cheap awning.Comment

That would be an interesting conversion - given mine was the last of the bay windows - presumably the diesel is watercooled?Originally posted by Paddy View PostI have seen them with a VW Diesel engine and auto gearbox fitted.
The last of the bay window type 2s like mine and the early type 25s were still aircooled - which reminds me - they are freezing in winter unless they have the optional petrol fired heating.Comment
