Nothing, but don't try convincing AtW.And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014 -
There was always some idiot - usually male and young - who would get off a slam door train when it drew into a station where the train wasn't suppose to stop.Originally posted by Troll View PostWTF was wrong with the slam door system?
New trains have auto doors that close 30 seconds before the train leaves FFS
I have fond memories of coming into Cannon St station and seeing who could be the first off the moving train - much more efficient than all having to queue for only two access points
Like the Routemaster busses that you could hop onto at traffic lights it´s all become too regimentated and H&S bollox
<rant over>
This caused the guard to waste time going up and down the train and added to the delay.
Luckily I was never on a train were someone missed the platform and fell onto the tracks."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment

If the train has to stop at a station anyway, why not let people get off?Originally posted by SueEllen View PostThere was always some idiot - usually male and young - who would get off a slam door train when it drew into a station where the train wasn't suppose to stop.

Not just Eastern European foreigners. Western Europeans moan about it as well. And British people... ever tried washing your hands at the UK end of the Channel Tunnel? There's a warning about scalding water, two taps, and no plug for the sink...Originally posted by SueEllen View PostAll bloody Eastern European foreigners complain about British taps.
The reason our taps come in two in lots of houses is because our housing stock tends to be very old....
In many UK houses, for various reasons, the hot and cold water tanks are at different heights, so the water is at different pressures. If you fit a mixer tap, you'll either have it cold, or scalding hot. Trying to get a temperature in between is nigh on impossible.Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment

Trains randomly stop at stations due to signals.Originally posted by Mich the Tester View PostIf the train has to stop at a station anyway, why not let people get off?
As they are unscheduled stops the train driver doesn't know how long the signal will be red for hence they cannot let people off as the train may start moving while people are getting off."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment

Not as annoying as bog seats that keep falling down as one is having a leak.Originally posted by k2p2 View PostEqually annoying is taps that don't stick out far enough over the sink to get your hands under.And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014Comment

Totally agree. Means you have to waste a hand holding it up, leaving only one free for supporting the kidney wiper. And for a long piss this places a huge strain on the wrist and elbow joints.Originally posted by Mich the Tester View PostNot as annoying as bog seats that keep falling down as one is having a leak.
Luckily enough, as a former military man, these wrist muscles are well-developed. For a guy like sasguru though, it is probably enough to force him to sit down to pee.

They are perfectly adequate for a 3rd world country - you just need to add some rails on the roof to have 3rd class on board.Originally posted by Troll View PostWTF was wrong with the slam door system?
