No doubt the record company execs are seeing this as a win/win. No more cancelled gigs and shoddy performances, no need for 24 hour chaperones to keep her in line and they get to re-release all her stuff in a dozen different formats and mixes without having to pay her for it.

    Moving on.

So in the absence of any concrete information form the police. What do we think the cause of death will be?

My money is on "choked on her own vomit" in the best rock and roll tradition.
I'm sure her estate will still get royalties...the same way the presley's are still raking it in.

You'd have to believe somewhere a NOTW journalist is dying to hack her phone for old times sake.

That will be her riff-raff criminal husband then. Good for him.

BBC News - Amy Winehouse joins iconic stars who died aged 27

Difference between "then" and "now". I hadn't actually thought how bad music had got until I read this and she's being compared to these legends. I don't wish anyone dead but really it is a spot the odd one out.

Stars who have died at 27

          Brian Jones
          Janis Joplin
          Jimi Hendrix
          Jim Morrison
          Kurt Cobain

          and Amy Winehouse.

My music mad mate reckons that we had been waiting for a voice like hers since Janis Joplin died (though JJ was a bit before my time, musically).

            Very probably.

I bet you cheered when you found out the brazilian guy murdered by the cops in the tube was here illegally.

****** is too nice a word for what you are.

I have to agree. Without wishing to be callous, was anyone really surprised at the news?

I feel sad for her parents, they've suffered unimaginably over the last few years, watching their daughter's slow spiral downwards. They even asked fans not to buy her material, at one stage, to give her the 'wake up call' she needed.

As a parent you can only advise, you can't live their life for them, and if they're as hell-bent on self destruction as she seems to have been, then all you can do it watch and wait.

                      Very sad.
