    Habitat bites the dust

The door finally shuts on Habitat, the furniture chain that took the Swinging Sixties by storm | Mail Online

I would occasionally browse Habitat out of curiously value. The furniture they sold looked like junk and about 10 times the price I'd have expected. I used to wonder who bought this stuff and played a guess-the-price-game, but often underestimated by an order of magnitude.

A lot of shops seem to be going under at the moment. Over a year after our Borders book shop closed, Wilkensons are setting up shop.

      Sucks.

There's one in Edinburgh Shandwick place, bought a few things over the years but nothing big.

Borders in Buchanan street Glasgow closed a year ago now replaced with tat shop. I really do miss that borders, fantastic meeting place, a browse and a cuppa. Now complete and utter tat.

We rented an unfurnished apartment out here, Kare design, where we've been looking for our key pieces - the styles are outrageously fun.
