There is increase in fraud related to such claims during recession, insurers well aware of it though they might just pay out and increase insurance rather than investigate and deal with fraudsters, at the end of the day she was not in mortal danger and any claims can't be too significant - I'd fight that all the way to ensure justice prevails.

    Good luck.

They also recoup the money by defrauding their own customers, claiming that faults caused by an accident are not accident related.

ESure tried to double my premium this year. Told 'em to go **** themselves and I've now renewed with Direct line for slightly less than last years premium.

When I spoke to ESure they blamed a rise in Personal Injury claims.

Same here, but I was with Direct Line and went to Tesco, both motor and home insurances moved.

Apparently the biggest reason for premium increases generally is "crash for cash".

When someone rear ended me the minute it was passed to the accident specialists, who I guess would have paid a kick back to the insurance company to handle all the details like recovery, replacement car hire etc, I was asked was I injured, are you sure, no twinges etc?

I think as most of the claims will be around the £1-2k mark most insurers will just pay out rather than go for the expense of doctors reports, extra lawyer fees etc
