I think rather than being "convinced" she was alive, there was both fervent and unrelenting hope and the need to provide stong, optomistic support for the rest of the family, including the other kids.

Either that or she had something to do with the kids demise and she's a bloody good actress.

In all probablity she's dead, but I would have thought that any parent who had a child abducted would want to cling onto the idea that their kid is still alive somewhere.

That is on topic. I think your comment is bollocks and you've put too much effort into thinking about it. No 'paedo' is going to rush out and buy the book because of one word.

What it shows is, that she is being totally honest / candid. Maybe she sees at theraputic as well as a way of raising money.

I have no interest in reading the book.

With all the strange behaviour and details* that has brought yet more intrigue to the case, I don't think I would be suprised with any outcome if this 'story' ever reaches a proper conclusion. That is unlikely anyway unless new evidence is uncovered or Madeleine is found alive or dead.

* many many things this covers, both official from the files released by the portugese authorities to that which may be purely internet myth.

I expect one day someone will do a documentary on this as it's a fascinating case when you delve into it, and they've given plenty of fuel to fire the speculation. Though the dog's evidence (if the dogs previous success rate of 100% is indeed correct) and the McCanns reaction/reasoning afterwards speaks for itself if you really approach it with an open mind.

Irrespective of child care issues, why write a book about it?

If it was me in this invidious situation, I certainly wouldn't want to write and sell a book about it, I'd rather deal with it and take my punishment in the afterlife...
