    I've deleted PAH's post.

    Not nice or decent.

Decent or not, here is what appears to be a scan of the page, make up your own mind.

      What's in the book?

That clip of the book is all over every trashy blog/website on the web. At no point does any decent news source make the same quote, which leads me to believe that's an internet fake.

            I haven't got the book.

            Point taken, post modified.

It should be quite easy to verify, the book's in the shops!

My original post was asking the question if this was indeed real as I found it hard to believe, to someone who had easy access to the book. Maybe I should have just walked down to the shop and checked myself.

Apologies to all concerned if I posted something inappropriate.

My 3 are way past the age where it's a concern, but I would never have dreamed of leaving them while going for dinner, the choice is either to take them or not go.
I am not defending it, but what people say they do, and what they actually do are two different things. Add in a highly emotive atmosphere and it would take a loon to admit that they ever did anything similar.

Yet it has been confirmed by eyes on the physical book that the actual phrase is present on page 129 as I reported.

I somehow think it will be altered to the more sanitised version for any future reprints of the book, as it appears for whatever reason, Kate didn't use an editor or a 3rd party to check things like this may be overstepping the mark.

Her judgement must be way wrong* with even the gutter press (e.g. The Sun) censoring the phrase! Shocking oversight really.

If anyone is curious to know what the shocking phrase is, treat it like those beheading videos if you are of a sensitive disposition. Some things are best unseen.

                    * maybe not entirely suprising seeing as they thought it a feasible plan to leave toddlers on their own in such a way.

At the end of the day she's a doctor. She's going to be more straight forward than most. I don't there is anything 'sick' to have the thought or nightmare image. I am suprised at the use of language but I think it's sensationalist that it is picked up on and spread across the net in the way it has.

Words can be very powerful (and shocking).
