              Happens all the time with personal debt too... if you approach a debt counselling group like citizens' advice or CAP, they make your creditors realise that unless they reduce their demands to something affordable, the debtor will simply go bankrupt and they will get nothing.

                Thing is though at some point shouldn't they just say 'no more' it's like pouring money away, isn't it better to cut your losses sometimes

                  Agreed. No point in the Greeks paying anything back. Total default, new currency and devalue to competitiveness is the only way.

                    Spot on there, a lot of people I know used to enjoy going on holiday in Europe but since the introduction of the euro it has gotten increasingly more costly to holiday there.
