This is what I have to work with....

Some lady in the office has just discovered she has some lights in her kitchen 7 years after moving in.

Apparently they were under unit lights and although the switch was next to the main light switch she didn't press it for seven years and never wondered what it did.

I managed something similiar with the rear wash wipe on a car once.

I was driving it in as part exchange & suddenly found that it washed the rear screen as well as wiped it.

    Well I never did.

Our oven extractor hood has a mains switch hidden above the fitted cupboards out of sight near the ceiling. We didn't know this until the fan 'broke' and we got our landlord to call the electrician in to fix it. He hardly laughed at us at all, which was rather kind of him.

I had the opposite problem with a plumber when we bought our house.
The hot water wasn't working, plumber thought the boiler was f**ked so told me to call the manufacturer to send an engineer round.
Whilst doing some basic poking around myself I found a tap, which when turned allowed water to flow into the boiler giving an instant fix to the problem.
And don't get me started with the "broken" thermostatic shower he tried to install

We've got a weird sort of gas tap contraption on the outside of our house. Didn't even notice it for about a year after we moved in, and didn't touch it even then as it looked very important and technical. One of my kids is always fiddling around with stuff though and one day he decided to turn the tap, only to find that it switched on a very convenient outside light round the side of the house where it's always really dark. You live and learn.

Someone I knew turned off a tap in his cellar because he couldn't work out what it did.

It was for the next door neighbour's water.

While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

After having a car (from new) for several years one day it stopped working all the electrics were dead: after a week in the garage it was discovered that someone at the factory had installed an immobiliser & the switch which was hidden under the dash had been knocked: no one knew about it, it was not in the manual & nor was the switch in the normal location!

I had a rental Renault 5 for a short while.

Typical rental car I thought. Screen washers kaputt.

Then one day I was getting out of the car with a load of shopping and saw a squirt of water on the windscreen.

It was an economy model so was operated by a foot pump, not the wiper stalk.
