I did used to smoke about 40 a day on a normal day and would smoke even more due to chainsmoking if I was in the pub though.
only time I gave up was with acupuntcure, had no dsire to give up but was offered free treatment so thought I'd try, didn't smoke for a week or even think about it - actually forgot I had the treatment the first day, lit up and coughed me guts up and chucked it away.

So why am I still smoking? I went to the pub after five days, took out the acupuncture studs and et volia started smoking again - moral of the story is you really have to want to give up - read the Carr book too and this is what he says.

Kind of agree that you have to want to, but I found the Carr book made me want to. I wanted to, for health reasons, but didn't really want to as I kinda enjoy it. The book helped to cement the idea that giving up was so much better than not giving up and that it wasn't all pain and deprivation.

Yeah, he really points out that you are deluding yourself and once you break that spell the hard work is done.
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

I stopped smoking by having a wank instead of a cigarette. I am currently on 20 a day. The down side is I get tired.

You may run into problems if you try this standing outside work

              Anyone tried electronic cigarette kits?

A guy at cliento smokes (or "water vapours") them. They work out a lot cheaper than baccy, and have no tar and other such things some people worry about.

WHS. Stop moaning and do it.
All smokers are weak addicts*. End of story.

Easier now you can't smoke in pubs. I think avoiding smoking friends is helpful.

And who makes the nicotene cartridges for them ? Not pharmceutical companies. Sweat shops in China make them. It's bad enough smoking cigs without running the risk of smoking unknown tulip from a chinese factory.

Ever seen one for sale in a pharmacy ?

I gave up about 6-7 years ago now. I didn't find it too difficult. For me it was finding the things that triggered me wanting a cig. An odd one was the speed camera on the A40 near B&Q, near Greenford. If I lit up there I could smoke the cig and finish it as I got to the gates of where I worked. Once I stopped my hand would start to really itch as I got to the camera.

The pub was interesting. It used to be the case that you'd get a beer, go to the table and spark up. Once I stopped it was get a beer, go to the table and drink the beer. I used to get phenomenally pi$$ed. So every cloud and all that!!

I only did it because of how much it was costing me. My wife stopped using patches and her mum quit by being hypnotised. Her mum was a hardened 60 a day smoker.
