You should have read it again then :-)Originally posted by Spacecadet View PostTried that a few years ago and lasted 3 months which is still a record for me
Being honest, I had my first internal turmoil after six weeks. Was feeling 'better' generally and cough had cleared up and went through a couple of weeks of not even thinking about it. Had a few days at the six week mark of thinking that I was feeling pretty good and didn't have a problem with smoking so a bit of smoking wouldn't hurt
but managed to overcome it and get back on track. Stick at it man, you can do it !!!

That would explain why the full strength lozenges had that effect, try the lower strength stuff.Originally posted by Spacecadet View PostNot a heavy smoker, 10-15 a day but I was starting to feel the effects more and more
I stopped 2 years ago but now stuck on the gum.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave JohnsonComment

I gave up when I was five, and to be honest, I have never craved another one since

WHS - I finally succeeded after reading this having had many failed attempts. Haven't had a fag for 5 years now.Originally posted by TestMangler View PostThe Allen Carr* book is worth a read. Helps with the bad tempered cravings (which don't actually exist anyway).
I gave up after 30 yrs of 20/day using that book. Didn't find it anything like as hard as expected.
*Not the camp comedian.
One of the things he stresses in the book is to not alter your lifestyle when you quit because this will lead you to feel that you are being deprived so DO go to the pub and DO still have those coffee breaks.Comment

Don't think of it as 'giving up', you're choosing to stop because it's hugely beneficial to do so.
Also think of the pros and cons of smoking, the cons list is massive and there are no pros.
I remember the Alan Carr book well.

Yes, it worked for me as well, but I did find the first time I stopped after reading it I would go to the pub and smoke and that was what caused me to fail. So 2nd time, I avoided the pub....Originally posted by wurzel View PostWHS - I finally succeeded after reading this having had many failed attempts. Haven't had a fag for 5 years now.

I did used to smoke about 40 a day on a normal day and would smoke even more due to chainsmoking if I was in the pub though. While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'Comment
