I hope sea levels rise, being an island it will breach the beachs closer to everyone

So less travelling time for summer holidays

If the sea level keeps rising at the rate it's going at the moment, they might have to move the deck chairs on Brighton beach up a few centimetres.

I think what we need is to invest billions in renewable energy to prevent this kind of problem,

As I am sure you know, most of the damage and loss of life that occurs during a hurricane is due to the associated storm surge, so if these start from a half a metre higher (say) than they are now......

Around 20% of Bangladeshis live less than a metre above sea level, will they be welcome here?

And of course, it is not just the problems caused as the sea surface gets higher, sea water also intrudes further into subterranean coastal aquifers, the aquifers that provide fresh water for many of our coastal cities. No sea wall can prevent this.

But I am sure this has all been gravely considered and dismissed.

My subconscious is annoying. It's got a mind of its own.

But this process started naturally 20000 years ago, we just need to move up the hills a bit and wait for nature to reverse the cycle Shirley?

Humans haven't been clever enough to plan for these 'creep' events, maybe we'll be better prepared for the next cycle?
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

Planned economies are out of vogue. I expect the free market will look after the Bangladeshis.

I expect England to look after them first. In the morning.

Did the 'old empire' cause sea levels to rise too? We've got so much appeasing to do with so little time.

AS a matter of fact Bangladesh is rising due to sediment being deposited from rivers.
