Looks like it had not been renovated since the 1980’s, rusty fridge etc. When I asked him why he had booked it, he said “if she really loved me it does not matter what the place looks like”

So do you think it’s fair to spring a test like this on someone so far away from home?

I also think there is a bit of built in punishment if she fails the test, i.e. he has the money to bugger off to a 5* hotel on another island or go home, if it does not work out. She will be left in a dump in the Seychelles for the rest of the holiday.
I was going to say what do you expect? He's Jewish.

But realised I'd misread the first line.

      Quite.

Wouldn't he be happier using professional call girls?

Is he fat and ugly and old?
If so I would guess she's after his money
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

It won't prove she's not a gold-digger, because she already knows he's a rich chap. Being taken to a shabby hut in the Seychelles, as opposed to a nice hut in the Seychelles, won't change that. It will help determine whether she's a "high maintenance" throw-a-strop-for-trivial-reasons person, which is also worth knowing.

The only way to find out whether she's after his money or not, is to make it look like he's lost his money. If he gives me his bank details I'll happily hide his millions for a few weeks and make it look like he's been the victim of a Bernie Madoff-style scam.

Also - a normal person would be a tad miffed after traveling that far to stay in a dump. She's more likely to be a gold digger if she puts up with it and doesn't say a thing.

                Ok, I get it.

The idea is that she will be pissed off and tell him to stuff it, this means she ain't gold digger or smart one.

Gold digger would put up with this cr@p and tell him that she loves him not for his money.

Good point, I didn't think of it that way. I was thinking of warning her, but that might backfire.

This would be more effective - he could drop it into the conversation that due to a bad busienss deal he might be facing financial ruin - but isn't too concerned at the moment as it's not likely...

Then add that if it does happen it shouldn't take too long to get back to the good times with the right woman at his side. The first million is always the hardest right?
