I thought Holland only floods when someone pulls their fingers out of the dyke

Isnt Holland a low lying flat country ?
surely if they abandon their CO2 targets it will make the sea levels rise dramatically and they will be flooded. Thirty years ago the warminsts predicted a 10 m rise in sea levels and its only been the wind turbines that have kept the sea at bay.

This is madness by the Dutch and this time next year they will be drowning in a boiling sea or being eaten by migrating Polar bears

Not so fast, EO. I'm not saying it's environmental madness, but economic folly to destroy the home market and thereby the R&D capacity of an industry that's making money for Holland.

This sounds like the same story as that Daily Mail one about the "inefficient" Reading wind turbine... i.e. the reason for their "inefficiency" is that they "cost more in subsidies than they produce". As with yesterday's story, it is implied that this is a subsidy paid just to keep the things running - just as you might subsidise a hardly-used bus service in a remote rural area.

But these turbines don't need that subsidy to keep them running. It is paid as an incentive to investment in clean energy. And (completely aside from the whole climate change issue) clean and renewable energy must be a good thing. How can it possibly be bad?

Unfortunately, greed means that subsidy is the only way to get businesses to build wind turbines.

Oh aye. I get yopu point. Holland is making money out of manufacturing things that dont do any good, because some zealots persuade the powers that be to subsidise it based on some crazy world view.

The environmental protection agency in the USA have ruled that greenhouse gasses are a pollutant that will kill people so they must be curbed by law. (just like smokey chimneys or lead in paint were oulawed)
Does the head of the EPA walk , cycle or canoe everywhere and avoid using lekky ?
