I see you've started with looking for sponsorship already

I know a few people who've done it. They all say 10-14 days. Did work with a guy who had done it in 7 and the world record was 41 hours and he kept banging on about how he hadn't been on a bike and that you should aim for 7 days. I just thoughtOriginally posted by Churchill View PostChaps, just a subtle reminder.
You will be cycling on roads, not a closed track and you should (imo) cycle a fixed amount each day from one rest stop to another.
Good luck with it.

I think this is an absolutely wizard wheeze. Count me in - I'll be doing it on my recumbent bicycle!
We really need to put some thought into sponsorship and publicity. I propose that I will be at the vanguard of the group with my banana suit daubed with advertising slogans for maximum visual impact.
I'd also like to suggest a north to south trajectory as psychologically it's downhill.
Furthermore, there will also be the comforting feeling that we are always getting more civilised ad we head south.Comment

Not the same I know, but I did a kayaking Devises to Westminster marathon without a training and a seriously tulip shoulder, that was only 126 miles and that was bad enough.

The no-training "do it for real" approach is quite nice but:
- Seems a bit fake to pre-plan cars to ferry you to hotels
- If you didn't do it and donated the cost of all those hotels...
Do it like men, as if you are relying on your bikes for travelling, not having a jaunt... every metre travelled under your own power. Get a book of B&Bs or whatever and plan each day which ones you are trying to reach, and which are your backups.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

I met a girl once who lived some distance away, so one morning I woke up and to be next to her I walked 500 miles and then I walked 500 more basically just to be the man who walked 1000 miles to fall down at her door.
She was out. Typical.
