As you guys suggest, I have looked into paying off my mortgage early, and hopefully that'll happen within the next 3 to 4 years (got a good fixed rate before the rates went up, so I'm not in any great urgency to pay it off any quicker).
Even with a "good fixed rate" you are still paying interest on the capital borrowed.
In vast majority of cases its worth paying off your mortgage (and I had assumed you had already done this before looking to invest 100K)

Ok yes I agree with that statement. My mortgage is assumed covered from now on! i.e. the original question remains of how best to invest £100,000 when you have no outstanding debts.

Ok
What about cash mini-ISA ?
£3k per year - rates are OK and its all tax free (Gawd bless Mr Brown)
It aint a lot per annum but over the years me and Mrs Nomad have built up quite reasonable sums in our cash mini-ISA's
Yeah agree with the above, invest in stocks at the moment. But keep an eye on them.
If you invest now, but forget the US, you should build up some profits before the next correction.
Stock markets in South America, Russia and the Far East are looking good. Some European stock markets also look good. The DAX has done well doubling in about 3 years.
