You can stuff permiedoom up your arse.

I think that's the crux. You need to work out what you're take home would be.

That needs to be the driver. Holiday is all very nice, pension, healthcare etc from a perm perspective but this has to be calculated against the cool calculations of a 200-230 days billing range.

On that basis Lower(200 days), middle(215) days, high end(230) days gives you the takehome range from an outside IR35(or European) contract. Factor in expenses and then compare directly to the take home from a perm package.

It's very rarely a straight 100K Perm calculation as each contractor is different.
What happens in General, stays in General.

Plus, you can’t write down posh meals away from home as business expenses, you can’t hold umpteen ‘extraordinary general meetings’ each year in locations selected from the Michelin guide, you can’t go on holiday to Cannes when there’s a supposed ‘industry congress’ and get the travel back off tax, you lose any VAT advantages, and you end up with a boss. Here in Holland, being self employed gives very significant tax advantages which I wouldn’t want to lose.

Well if you approach it with an antagonistic attitude, of course you'll find it meets your expectations.

If you're in a position that you're not being driven by the company, but an integral part of it, I think these things change. Maybe a smaller company with less formalities and more enthusiasm, or one of the few companies who would let you have a degree of autonomy (I'm kind of thinking the media perception of Google, who knows the reality...

I think what you mean is a situation where effectively, you're running the company or a significant revenue generating chunk of it, and I think that's rather different to most permie offers. So yes, I'd happily be a director or a principle insultant with my own division and staff, but that would effectively be an expansion of my current business and entrepreneurship and not really a 'permie role'.

It would take a lot to make me have to go to meetings.

You could start with a shower, haircut and getting dressed...
