I think gay adoption is a tough one. Gay couples are as likely to provide a loving and safe home for a child as heterosexual, but it is true that the child is likely to be teased and may feel resentful that their family is not 'normal', in the sense of the same as their friends.
This topic is something I have personally struggled to reconcile myself.
I understand the arguments of the child having a better life but, to me, homosexuality is a personal choice (cue abuse) and as such, as part of that choice, you forgo the gift (and having children is a gift, not a right) of having children - biological or bought.

Fook me. You seriously think that?
Practically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.

He will be growing up in the showbiz area of Beverley Hills. Nobody's parents are "normal".

True - nobody's parents are normal (regardless of whether or not you live in Beverley Hills). My daughter leaves me in little doubt that my mere existence is excruciatingly embarrassing.
Elton is the high profile , latest front man for this. There must be many more cases where the same-sex parents cant provide similar security, protection and life style.
So what about the principle, rather than this specific case

Surely the best way to test principles is with specific cases.
But there's several principles to be argued about here -
e.g.
1) Gay adoption
2) High profile celebrity adoption
3) Old parents adoption
I'm OK with the first, although I do think the child might face problems they wouldn't otherwise face. But most kids have hangups of some sort. The problems of ensuring a safe and happy home are not homo-hetero specific.
I'm OK with the second when it's genuine and not just, as someone suggested, a fashion accessory. I don't know how we tell the difference. Presumably that's the job of the adoption agency.
Don't know about the third. I think 63 is pushing it. But, as a man, Elton has the capacity to be a natural parent at that age.
I take it your version of the good book has airbrushed out the sections on "tolerance" then d000hg?
Sticking my neck out a bit here, but I don't think the Bible explicitly preaches tolerance on any occasion. It preaches love. It's certainly not "tolerate thy neighbour". Tolerance is a very recent invention and doesn't get you very far at all, in comparison.
