Well after a few days monitoring radar images on Google Earth and comparing these to the BBC weather forecasts I can say that the former wins for short range predictions and that the latter is absolute gob tulip for short range forecast efficacy. BBC weather is still predicting heavy snow showers for today at 3pm and yet we had nothing and I could see from the radar image that the green blob, which I take to indicate snow, had moved off earlier in the morning (when we did have snow) and was heading away.

What are the chances of me leaving / arriving South Yorks Thursday morning around 10am - M1 / M69 / M6 / M42 / M40 / M25 to Heathrow - staying overnight then morning flight on Friday to Istanbul terminal 5?
Also if I'm delayed can I stay in the 1st class lounge or do they shove me out?

Still nowt my way, but interesting to see that neighbouring towns have had up to a foot in places.
Travelling down the M1 was treacherous round Luton/Milton Keynes and the M25 and M40 weren't too bad, but reduced lanes as some hadn't been cleared.
There were a hell of a lot of idiots on the road.

Seems they've cancelled a lot of short haul flights from Heathrow.Originally posted by Tingles View PostWhat are the chances of me leaving / arriving South Yorks Thursday morning around 10am - M1 / M69 / M6 / M42 / M40 / M25 to Heathrow - staying overnight then morning flight on Friday to Istanbul terminal 5?

Just be aware you might have a horrible delay on the M1 around Luton area, reduced lanes, bad driving conditions and roadworks.Originally posted by Tingles View PostThanks for that - it's operating so far.
