Releasing embarrasing cables that reveal the diplomatic community to be indiscreet and a bunch of wallys is arguably a free speach issue, publishing the locations of sensitive assets is quite different.

I expect there's going to be some protracted jail time coming his way. Cheesing off multiple security services that badly, not overly wise.

He is just the messenger just like the Guardian, if there is any jail time it should be for whoever copied the data and maybe for the person in charge of IT security.

I think it works along the same way as child porn. Both the originator and the publisher are equally guilty. I bet he's looking through that list for 'torture' locations right now.

So the Guardian have been publishing it also, should the editor be worried?

I gather millions of people had access to this information, so presumably foreign powers had it too. Only Joe public was in the dark, and he may be feeling a bit peaved off with governments world-wide at the moment.

I agree, not sure why the some are calling for Assange's head on a plate though, reactionary nonsense.

What about the hoster? Can we prosecute Switzerland, China, Iran or whoever hosts the site?

Well he's got no cash left according to this!!!
The problem there if you follow the links is that he opened a Swiss bank account claiming to be a resident, and he was not.

The man is as bad as Tony Blair when it comes to wanting media attention.

It sounds as if he's going to 'meet' police tonight, as he's rumoured to be holding out in south east Britain and should be on an American waterboard before sunrise. Although Sweden wants him first.

Yeah, it's uncanny. I'd be amazed this doesn't turn into a film.

For the lazy, what is he charged with? Is it how he got the documents, or what he did with them?
