Yep - on holiday this year, the taxi was an E-Class with the big boot thingy and himself was looking at the mile-ometer, actualy it was km's but anyway. He mentioned to the guy about it being on something like 600,000 km's and the ol fella laughed his ass off - "no, no, this is 2nd time round"!!

Shouldn't you seriously be looking to get a role closer to home?

Doing that sort of mileage will seriously damage your health - we were told that doing over 18,000 miles a year has the same risk as working on a building site.

£200 per month petrol and all the other vehicle costs is prohibitive as a lowly paid permie, surely.

I've met the fella, he's too stupid to be risk averse. Nothing to do with bravery, just nutty as the proverbial fruitcake.

Also, how much will leasing a car cost when they find out you're doing 35k a year?

If it's more than a tenner a month for a Peugeot, it's too much.
Practically perfect in every way....there's a time and (more importantly) a place for malarkey.

was doing 250 miles daily for almost a year in an 02 diesel mondeo, racked up 180k on it,

they do have a few known & expensive issues normally the dual mass flywheel at 80k ish which can cost £600 ish, or the fuel injectors can go as well (this is what happened to mine) which is around the same

but you can pick one up for around £2500 and get plenty of use outta it

if its a diesel as well always look for an alternative fuel source as well

Nightmare with the cost of clutch replacement, I understand?
