    Yes, SY01, they are.

Did you see the thread about the foreigner holding out a mobile asking for help? Everyone suggested you should scuttle off sharpish.

And the conclusion for how to deal with three 17-year-old lads bullying your daughter? Ask her what to do about it.

It's all mouth and no trousers on here.

NF has given a couple of accounts of standing up for people at night and got flak for it on here too.

You have to remember that for each of us middle aged farts with a bit of life experience, there's a gang of gawky script-kiddies, spotty tape-changers and gangly nerds who got into IT by accident who would piss themselves if a girl spoke to them.

Ignoring MF's tall tales, I doubt there's half a dozen of us on here that actually do stand up and get counted when there's trouble (and one of them only wants to do it if he's allowed a gun).

You stand up for what you know is right, mate. It's the only chance we've got.

Sure, sorry. I posted it in another thread but can't be arsed to look for it.

Basically some cretins stamped on our pumpkin. SY02 spotted this while standing on the neighbour's drive (she and the little SY01's were about to go trick-or-treating with the neighbour's and their littluns.

She shouted at them, and they still rang the doorbell and angelically asked for the requisite trick or treat. I was in the process of handing out sweeties when I heard SY02 tell me not to and the reason why.

I got cross at the kids and told them to bugger off. One of them (in a knitted balaclava helmet) picked up a glass bottle from the recycling box at the end of the drive, casually walked next door and hurled the bottle at SY02 showering her and the kids in glass.

SY03/4 took it better than expected. SY05 (16 months old) took 45 minutes soothing down from the shock.

SY01, you really need to get yourself down to an estate agent and ask about houses in respectable areas.
And what exactly is wrong with an "ad hominem" argument? Dodgy Agent, 16-5-2014

as I already said, move to a quiet village which has no affordable housing

            it's the only way

you see the system is geared against you and this direction will not change

only way, will be move to where there is no affordable housing

            the country will divide

Agree. I quite like quaint villages. SY02 prefers town life.

So the correct solution to a bit of trouble in the boozer is to sell up and move away, rather than make an effort to do something about the community?

What happens when the boozer closes down, and the next nearest is in your village - only a 10 minute drive for the boy racers? Do you then sell up and move on again?

Just a few miles south and you'll be in a much nicer world.

You need to invite people who live in a smart village around for dinner and get them to tell SY02 about how pleasant it is to live somewhere with so little crime.

                      good idea Mich

                      SY01,

                      ignore the dreamers,

city and town communities are fecked

the only only way is to move out to the quiet villages where there is no affordable housing

sorry to say, it's not your fault, it's not their fault, it is the fault of policy of tolerating bad behaviour at school, lack of education in respecting others and treating others as you would wish to be treated

simple common decency of our generation and our parent's and grand parent's generations has been lost and will only get worse

                      Milan.
