Why has this one been dragged back up? So we can all laugh again at the loathsome kandr?

Cars often say you have X miles left, but in fact you often get a lot more out of it.Comment

I found this out after a similar lack of foresight and found myself x miles from a petrol station with the dash flashing ----- (i.e. empty but not yet empty enough to stop working).
I think some still believe that running out of fuel knackers the injection system due to sludge in the bottom of the tank. Maybe in the early days of injectors (I seem to remember a mate of my dad's having problems after running out in his old Ford Granada) and when petrol may have had more contaminants.
Not sure where the sludge would come from these days, as it would still get sucked into the system while getting through a tank of fuel half way through a journey, due to cars with decent petrol engines still only averaging ~30mpg at best.Feist - 1234. Sounds like some of you are not really cut out for car ownership, perhaps consider taking the bus instead.Keeping calm. Keeping invoicing.Comment

Or at least have the sense to join the AA in advance. About 10 people on here have already tried to explain the principal of insurance to you i.e. you pay upfront in case something happens not when it happens.
Failure to understand how this works seems astounding to me. What do you expect?Rhyddid i lofnod psychocandy!!!!Comment

They also don't like being called out for the same problem twice (found that out with the TVR) as they expect you to fix it after the first time.
AA membership (or any other similar reliable/reputable alternative) is one of the few insurance policies I'm glad to pay for.
You find that out when stranded hundreds of miles from home, with hardly any cash on you, in the dead of night, and with a mobile phone on low battery so have only one or two calls possible before it goes dead.Feist - 1234. One camera, one take, no editing. Superb. How they did it
