And personally I could not give two hoots for the miners, they were the ones demanding a 40% wage increase a few years before and plunging the UK into a 3 day week. They got what they deserved.

I assume that all those that praise the free enterprise and mass import of cheap coal that led to mine closures due to Maggie have no problem with large corps bringing in bob to undercut their +£100K a year rates?Comment

What state do you think the UK would be in had Thatcher not made the reforms that she did?Originally posted by Alf W View PostYes it's a bit of an over-reaction when all she did was devastate communities, increase taxes, create civil unrest, quash bodies that stood up for workers rights, introduce unfair taxes and create privately owned monopolies.
Human suffering and misery was a price worth paying to make a small minority fantastically wealthy?
Honest question. You won't be alerting anyone to anything with a mouthful of mixed seeds.Comment

Is that really true? I'd say we were probably richer under John Major or Blair. Give us some numbers.Originally posted by minestrone View PostSince the second World War Britain was at it's most successful under Thatcher's leadership. There can be no question that is the truth. The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”Comment

Good for you. So you have no problem with the current imports? Do you view it as a good thing that big corp can cut costs under the banner of free enterprise?Originally posted by minestrone View PostAdapt, change, survive.
The miners could not do it, I can.
Personally (so far) I'm largely unaffected... but then I again I have no probs with 2 flights to get to work if the money's right. Like you say Adapt, change, survive.Comment
