I've had enough of this Muslin tulip!

    The sails keep splitting.

Time to switch to a modern material.

I was down by the docks in Roskilde, as is my habit, and I noticed a lady on a large square sail that was laid out on the dockside. So I went to investigate. It appeared she was busily measuring various parameters.

Apparently it was part of a long term research project into shrinkage of sails as used by Vikings.

You'd have thought they'd have done that kind of thing a long long time ago, but apparently not.
