Look, on that reasoning, China should win every football world cup, India should be better than the All Blacks at rugby, and the USA should be a top cricket side.

Football isn't what they give a tulip about there, now if you want comparison of Olympics Gold medals then here it is:

China - 51 gold, US following closely by, Russia is 3rd (should not have been that high), and GBR punched well above its weight to be #4 by Gold count - that was very good result and British athletes who achieved it get tulip all money or hype compared to overpaid football stars.

IMHO the solution for England is to withdraw from all international football matches and focus on things you can win - that sheep/dog/whistling competition is very impressive.

England's team is so poor it can't even beat Montenegro yet it expects to win World Cup every time it plays.

How very true - in fact Rooney was appaling not only during the Last World Cup - but also the previous - why is he selected at all ?

Its the media that has the unrealistic expectations of England - a kind of expectant jingoistic triumphalism which is dashed invaraibly when England play a semi- decent team - eg Monte Carlo.

The fact is that both Scotland and England are never going to achieve anything due to the policy of their domsestic leauges not playing local/national footballers but importing expensive foreign players - you can see the dire consequence of this policy .

NB one notable excpetion at least Glasgow Rangers have tended over the past few years to use local talent

I advise you to take up another Sport - Polo seems attractive these days ?

AIUI..The yanks post-1776 were keen to distance themselves from the mother country at any costs.

This was taken to extremis in not playing any sport that originated in GB (which to our credit was all the good ones) and making up their own…resulting in rounders and that abomination called American Football

Nah. They won't do that until they have honed their eye-gouging and spear-tackle techniques. Probably get a Saffers Coach in to help them brush up that particular skillset.
