Just had a call saying that she's told the board she knows an expert who can help and they've asked me to come up with a pitch next month.

    Can anyone recommend any software???
Arena, Witness, Simul8, Quest Riskmaster migh be worth loooking at.

I worked with an events company and helped run a 10,000 people festival and pack out the Brixton Academy and other venues.
From experience cancel early if ticket sales are slow to give punters time to unbook time off and travel plans. I know people who have lost their houses due to their optimism.
Security and stewarding numbers are increasingly defined by Police and licenses are granted on condition of higher police numbers paid by the festival of course, hence a few UK festivals didn't run this year ... Glade, Waveform..

What sort of events do they run? Is this their first festival? A model sure would smooth over licence application with the local authority and police. Not sure if the crew I worked with used such modelling tools, it's not really worth it at the 10k level.

I'd be interested in seeing the modelling, not that I'm anything to do with any festivals anymore.

Simulation Software by SIMUL8 - Improve process performance risk free

Yup Simul8, a company that started from the university of Strathclyde, if I recall it's HQ is on campus.

We used to simulate blood donation centres and queuing systems and the like.

Oh QUEST software - that takes me back, my first job in IT was using Quest to simulate the manufacturing shop floor process in the production of a certain fighter aircraft for BAe.
It was great as we created a virtual shop floor , so you could whizz around it in 3D.
We got bored with the standard issue people in the simulation so we tried to re write the code and make them dalek shaped.
And we used a great 3D mouse too

        Oh happy geeky days
I'm sorry, but I'll make no apologies for this

Ah, a little more has come back to me about what we did in OR. Linear programming, simplex method and a few others. Mathematica probably does this now.

I might use my ROS and get EO to do it for a tenner though.
You could use these cheap unskilled workers. Or hire me. It will cost £100k but that's the cost of quality.

Alternatively, can't you just install SimCity on their laptops?
