A pair of socks cost me what a complete wardrobe would cost in Primark

Thick thermal socks (oooh long ones too), thermal long john's (which don't quite 'ride' right and slip down when I bend over, a bit short, oh well) and a long sleeved thermal vest. I have just given the whole package a trial run outside and it seemed to perform well, though it is 16 degrees C outside. A bit of wind helped. I was cooking after a 10 minute stroll in those and not much else, and my feet were bordering on uncomfortably warm. So a fairly good test result, if not conclusive. I need some cooler weather now to do a proper test run.
You'd have been better off with getting your thermals in somewhere like blacks or any outdoor shop, they may cost more, but are better quality that the tripe that m&s has been peddling for quite some time (and they'll last a hell of a lot longer).

Since I am now sans femme et sans avion, I will see if I can keep the heating off indefinitely. If it gets too chilly I can always switch another server on.

I admit defeat. I was going to wait until the clocks go back, but I give up.

Not that it very cold; I just feel a bit of a chill right now.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Been pottering in the garden most of the day down here in the English Riviera. Now that the sun has gone down there is a distict nip in the air mind you. May need to ditch the shorts tomorrow. Got Mrs SB busy at the ironing board to keep her warm, so no CH on here in Chez SB till next month at the earliest.

Girly said it was 8 when she washed the car at midday. Must have been 4 or 5 last night. That is too close to cold for this time of year.

that reminds me of that terrible joke:

Husband says to wife 'get your coat'

Wife says 'are we going out'

Husband says 'no, just me and i'm turning the central heating off'...

                  ironing to keep warm
