    Always wear your crash helmet

Man impaled by metal rod – for 11 hours | Metro.co.uk

Not sure a crash helmet would have help a lot though.

Hmm, these articles always seem to use the word lucky when people survive, which I suppose is true, but the second bit of luck doesn't fully cancel out the bad luck of being impaled by a metal rod in the first place IMO. Whereas there was luck involved at the end, I would say overall net luck was negative.

        Yeah, I noticed that too.
Never has a man been heard to say on his death bed that he wishes he'd spent more time in the office.

Another victim of "smart quotes enabled" "auto-replace" spell checking mentality.

I've just had to deal with a CSV file embedded with those buggers. Yes I'm looking at you Open Office...

As he was a cyclist and the spike went in through his eye socket I'm not entirely sure how that shows how important it is to wear a crash helmet when riding a motorbike.
