At work in a bank and the rest of my office had already gone home. A colleague came down from upstairs to tell me about it and we watched the news videos on my PC as it unrolled and pretty much live.

9th November? No idea."Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny. "

I was in Saudi Arabia at the time working at Taif for BAE.
The majority of the Saudi's I worked with were "happy" about what had happened and a number were openly celebrating. A minority seemed to be as concerned about what had happened as we were, shocked at the loss of life and destruction and thinking about what happens now. Again I'd like to stress that was the minority and I expect what I saw was echoed around the kingdom.Comment

At clientco in Victoria. When we heard news of the first plane striking, I assumed it was a flying lesson gone horribly wrong, and when the second struck I decided that flying school would really have to rethink their recruitment policy!
Later that day there was talk of a plane heading for Canary Wharf, and I must admit I was slightly nervous walking home, half expecting bits of flaming jumbo jet to rain down on me at any moment.

I was in Kingston shopping for a rucksack to take travelling after taking redundancy about a month before.
Back then, there was a TV near the bus stop showing BBC news 24. I didn't really believe it until I got home and saw all the footage."See, you think I give a tulip. Wrong. In fact, while you talk, I'm thinking; How can I give less of a tulip? That's why I look interested."Comment

In a BT Building in Salford (Dial House). We all sat and watched events unfold on a TV, postulating about potential casualty figures. Surreal really.“The period of the disintegration of the European Union has begun. And the first vessel to have departed is Britain”Comment

At the HP University just outside of Fort Collins. I was there doing a Service Desk Train the Trainer Course, and had got a fierce migraine, so was in the hotel room watching it all 'live'. I was late in and got there about 11.00, but since everyone was in the canteen watching on the projector TV, I didn't miss much of the course.
The course was a week long and fortunately I'd booked a few days holiday to go walking in the Rockies so I didn't have to scramble for flights - mine was on the first day that the skies had opened up again.
But to say that the holiday was a bit subdued is something of an understatement.

I'd completely forgotten it was today.
I missed the event entirely, I was working in a pub during university summer holiday and all I heard was when someone came in and mentioned a plane crash in America. Nobody really seemed too interested so I wasn't inspired to turn the news on and as such the whole thing passed me by until I returned to university.
I still have not to this day seen the original news footage.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment
