    Byres Road - West End

    Stay around Byres Road in the west end - all the shops, restaurants, bars etc - parks and tube to Bucannan street.

    Pubs outside this area are drinking houses and rough.

    Mother India Cafe oppposite the Kelvinside Museum is excellent.

    And the West Coast in magnificent in any weather.

    And I am not scot.

      Paisley is nice and safe if you fancy residential over city living - an excellent train service from Paisley Gilmour Street into Glasgow Central, takes 10 mins and runs every 10 or so. I have family in Paisley so stayed a few times - also close for the airport.

              I'd give Paisley a miss. Also 10 mins from the airport;

              Houston
              Langbank
              Bridge of Weir

              Much nicer places.

                Stayed in pollokshields (south side) for a number of years, many a nice walk nearby for running, walking, plenty of space of parking.

                Just so happens I've got a 1 bed lower conversation lying empty in pollokshields, semi furnished.

                    If I had a choice between bagdad and paisley, I'd pick bagdad every time, a lot safer.

                      Definitely avoid Paisley!
                      Worked there in my last gig. Used to watch drug deals taking place in a doorway next to the high court!. Shame as the old part on the hill is absolutely stunning - like being in a different town.

                      Agree with others - West End - but go a wee bit further out. Hyndland, Broomhill (or Anniesland for something a wee bit cheaper) or if you fancy the suburbs - 15 mins to city centre by train from Bearsden.

                      I don't get the Mother India thing. Second most overrated restaurant in Glasgow after Rogano's IMO. It's all hype.
