    Not according to the dictionaries I have access to. At least one dictionary doesn't even say it is only a running-related activity, you can sprint while swimming, skiing, etc.

    If you're going to tell us what language means I think you need some sort of backup, rather than "English according to one person who considers himself an unproved authority on sport and language".
