I one that I would agree with. I was merely pointing out the prevailing view of the Christian church towards the Old Testament.

The new Testament was produced to form a unified Christianity across the Roman world and out of aprox 80 books in existance it was weaned down to the 20 we have been left with.

One of the big stumbling blocks for the eastern churches was the concept of the trinity as they believed this was then 3 gods i.e. father, son and holy ghost.
Western tradition is that they are the same. Eastern or Arianism maintained that Christ was divine but created by god and therefore inferior.

Some scholars maintain this eastern view made the conversion to Islam easier as Christ was viewed as a messenger of God and ranked third behind Mohummad and his sidekick.

The church had been around for some time before Catholicism was formed/ratified as a political move... whatever anyone thinks about religion, mixing it with politics seems to be unanimously a bad idea.
