1. Right you twunts. Stop being a bunch of feckin retarded arsewipes. This is a relevant contractor question.Originally posted by suityou01 View PostIt's been a while since we had one of these. ClientCo has a system that was built last year, then redesigned. Both times the system was not up to scratch and no one used it. Since my most recent successes I was assigned to redesign. I started well, identified the root cause of the problem, proposed a new design. All good.
Since then I have had an uphill struggle in getting people to attend meetings and go through the requirements. This has meant that to hit the deadlines I have to get this feedback no later than Wednesday and then work through the night writing it all up.
This morning only one stakeholder turned up. I hit the roof. Sometimes, you have to accept that no matter how hard you try for a client, if they aren't bothered there is nothing you can do.
The end result is I have to close the study with minimal input from the business which means that politically the same thing will happen, they won't use it. Ergo I have have failed, from circumstances beyond my control.
And they want me to sign an extension to the end of the year, but I am so pissed off right now that pastures new seems like the only option for my sanity.
Anyone been in this position before? I know there will be those on here that say that as long as you can invoice there is no problem, but I do like to work on projects where you occasionally get the ball batted back over the net to you. And when you have lost this much heart, you question what is the point. If I have lost heart, and ClientCo cannot be bothered then from a professional standpoint something needs to be said.
I have escalated to the powers that be, and the support has been minimal.
2. SY01 - yes, we've all been in this situation. Most of the board still are but they are delusional/don't give a toss. And have "appendage" issues. The bottom line is that as part of getting you to do this study "der management" have the unrealistic expectation that you can solve the issues around their lack of leadership. You can't. What you can do is employ the "dripping tap" methodology or cover your arse and get out. Or keep taking the money until the penny drops with Mr Thicky at Clientco. I know what I'd do.

Unfortunately he labelled the thread as a "sy bedwetting" thread and invited the attack. So rather than get crushed underfoot, make myself the victim, and take all this crap I have decided to dictate WHAT I am prepared to do. To that end I have refused the extension, and suggested a shorter one that runs until the end of this study (early August), and possibly a bit longer if they need until they can hire a replacement and I can do the knowledge transfer. This for me is professional.Originally posted by Zippy View Post1. Right you twunts. Stop being a bunch of feckin retarded arsewipes. This is a relevant contractor question.

I spoke with the pimp today and he was somewhat understanding, citing that if I had been there for 8 months already delivering quality work and on time, then clearly something was up and it wasn't me.
You are right Zips, this is management fail. You can spot it a mile off. I have, and rather than suffer like I have done in the past I have spotted it early, and pulled stumps. The agent asked what would change my mind, and I stated that anything that would is extremely unlikely to happen.
I can "hopefully" leave this contract and move to another given time, and thank myself that I did.Knock first as I might be balancing my chakras.Comment

Sounds like a plan Suity. 8 months is a respectable time to be in a gig anyway.+50 Xeno Geek Points
