Harsh it might sound, but nature's controls are the only way to prevent runaway population expansion. Each country just has to do what it can - within it's own borders. Too many people? Your problem mate - manage it like we try to do. (At least, like we tried to do before 1997)
Errr Could you just explain to me where/how natures controls and countries/national borders can actually be juxtaposed?

Let nature take its course - within arbitrary/manmade restrictions imposed by imperialist powers...

Not an argument against restricting immigration and controlling population movement (I think we should probably control our borders "better" - but it aint that simple) merely another rant about people using somewhat flawed "logic".....

Julia Onslow-Cole, of PricewaterhouseCoopers, told the BBC that every overseas national brought by firms into the UK cost them three times as much as hiring a resident worker.

"They are not spending this money for nothing, they really need that expertise. Particularly in these economic times, I think it's very important that we allow businesses a free choice to bring in overseas nationals," she said.

These claims always go unchallenged. Because nobody will investigate the real details, the lie becomes the received truth.

Here is a suggestion for the PCG, challenge someone like PWC to a benchmarking competition to see if given a jobspec that they can find a UK national that could do the job rather than shipping in Bob.

Why wont the PCG do something practical to nail the lies about a skills shortage?
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

I really don't understand your point mate.

It's easier to leave each individual country to stand or fall by its own policies on birth controls, food production, housing and such, instead of having to impose world-wide solutions 50 or 100 years down the line.

People stay in their countries of birth. Discourage them from mass migrating next door, followed by the next generation, then the generation after that... That just fills up the whole planet.

Let me put it another way. We have a world-wide, exponential, population explosion. That is a big problem, as space and resources run out. How would you propose to tackle that?

Nature has a very good way of dealing with that.

Nice phrase. One that sums up the Labour years on much policy, especially when spin was king.

                From the BBC...

"Labour says the plans are a gimmick because only a small minority of foreign workers come from outside the EU"

About 50% of the programmers in my current place are Indian, in my last financial someone across the road from the building though that it was the Indian Embassy.

They just have no idea why they got voted out, it is a fantasy world they live in.

                Where is malvolio anyway?

Thank you for the kind offer. Are you giving it to me for free?

I see the logic in controlling immigration, and kind of struggle with the number of people working under 'HSMP' when there aren't enough jobs. I do however have a serious humanitarian issue with refusing people entry who are just trying to find work to feed their families in their homeland. I've met quite a few people crossing deserts, etc, having forked out several thousand pounds in countries where the average wage is £100 (if they're lucky) to try and find a better life. Who am I to say - no, let you and your family starve.
What exactly have you yourself done about your humanitarian isssue? is it by any chance to tell everyone else to deal with the problem or are you prepared to put your own "cock" on the block and take some of these people in to live with you?

Have the Huegenots been up to no good again? I must have missed that.

Really, how much of an issue is it having Huegenots, Jews and Irish people living in Britain now? It's not. Why do you think it will be any different with any of the others, in the end?

One thing that I always liked about London is that it could assimilate anyone from anywhere. The process would take three generations, but it can be done. I'm not sure about the rest of the country though.

                      Bollocks, absolute bollocks.

These posters forced my family to change its name to get work.

The Rangers fans recently had a song about the Irish Famine banned by the Police, the little ditty went along the lines of "The Famine is over, why don't you go home".

You are living in a New Labour fantasy world if you think the Irish were accommodated "with open arms".

And your spelling is bloody terrible.
