I agree with the work ethic part, they are very efficient and cause no fuss, although some could do with smiling a little more! Really, one of the sandwich shops I regularly used in the city was run by Polish and they just looked through me with a distant stare like somebody had stolen their souls. Fast service though!

On the other hand, the place I'm working is full of ICTs from India. The company that brought them in is very ICT/cost focussed. Whilst we were in recession they had plenty of ICT jobs whilst skilled british IT workers were on the streets or at the jobcenter.

I'm also not so convinced by the legitimacy of the vast number of non-english speaking people in my home town. Its not exactly a prime holiday destination so most probably live there now, and these people are getting on the bus with bags of shopping speaking in their native tongue to their kids rather than english....that annoys me.

Controlled Immigration has, for the most part, benefited and enriched the place. What has done the damage is over-egging the whole process by failing to ensure that it is done at a rate where the numbers involved can be absorbed seamlessly, and not vetting those coming in for relevant skills.
What worries me more is the fact that nothing is being done about sterilising all the Chavs!!

Name a single way immigration has 'enriched' Britain?*

(*please don't mention food. I have a cookery book thanks).

It enriches those that lobby parliament for plentiful cheap labour and in return they hand cash by way of backhanders to politicians who spend the money in shops. This all works fine until the people become so poor that they burn down the houses of parliament and put the incumbents heads on sticks.

While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

I also wonder whether it is all that much.

It seems a bit odd that we pay millions of people not to work and then say we need all that labour from abroad. That doesn't sound like enrichment to me.

I agree that a certain amount cultural intercourse is a good thing, but not an invasion. I work in an area that is not quite a ghetto but is mostly inhabited by immigrants, and I don't see what enrichment that has bestowed on the UK either.
