Watch the original swedish versions, with subtitles, not the Hollywood version with Daniel Craig, all 3 originals were excellent films.Originally posted by d000hg View PostJust finished "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" which has been massive on Amazon for ages (apparently there's a film too).
 Not bad.

Probably going to read some of the free classics on my Kindle next, Dickens or Verne.

Am still slowly working through House of Leaves, which is good but rather tiring.

To be honest I've not seen the Craig version, but an american remake can't be good. Much like "Let the Right One In".

Relatively, yes.Originally posted by d000hg View PostIs that a new one?

As mentioned earlier, Santa bought me Games of Thrones 1-4 (5 books) and I am well into Book 1 now. The TV series ties in quite well so far.Last edited by Scrag Meister; 10 January 2012, 10:18.Never has a man been heard to say on his death bed that he wishes he'd spent more time in the office.Comment

Not that fussed by the film anyway - I've seen the book causing a stir since I first got my Kindle a year ago and finally thought I'd give it a go. A little (Iain) Banks-like, I'd say.Originally posted by Scrag Meister View PostWatch the original swedish versions, with subtitles, not the Hollywood version with Daniel Craig, all 3 originals were excellent films.

i was in helsinki airport with time to kill and a lack of reading matter. there's a tiny little bookshop snuck between the xmas/moomin shop and some shiny-thing store and i was looking for something, anything, that might pique my interest for the flight home.Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostThat is an interesting choice. it's was a 2011 pulitzer winner for non-fiction and had some pretty good reviews. i love history and here was something beyond the usual regal / military / social / music / bio stuff that i would normally go for. plus, my father died from cancer in 2009 and 1 in 4 of us will get it in our lives - so i thought i'd give it a go. i was expecting that a fair bit would be difficult to cope with so i bought a cleopatra a life by stacy schiff as a backup.

actually, it's a damn good read if a little bit biased on the american view. it's good to learn new stuff. very interesting to see how surgeons will foist their views upon patients to drastic cost in the interest of defeating cancer.Comment
