There is a place on earth for all of God's creatures. Next to the mashed potatoes and the veg.

I've met a few wierd veggies who are evangelical about it (which annoys me no end too despite being veggie myself) but I've actually met a hell of a lot more people who like to whinge on about whether or not I should eat eggs / buy leather etc. I say each to their own - eat what you like. For me being vegetarian is a personal thing. I don't try to pursuade other people that my view point is correct and yet everyone else seems to think that it's OK to do it the other way.

The only time I've ever said anything was a slight joke with my mum. She had a field behind her house which had different animals in it over time. She was looking out over the field and said that she thought that she might stop eating lamb because they looked so cute. I replied that it seemed a bit mean to eat cows just because they were ugly. She went veggie the next day and I've felt guilty about that ever since! She has since gone back to eating meat (after about 10 years) - I guess it's because they built houses over the field that used to hold the cute lambs...

As a vegetarian I am a bit late to the thread.

I am, what you may call as a 'rebel' veggie. I was raised vegetarian due to religious reasons but as a grown up I have gone and did some meat sampling. Although I cannot cook it myself.

Total vegans I think do not consume eggs, onions, garlic, milk and cheese.

Most veggies do not consume eggs and all meat products.

Plenty of veggies consume eggs too including it as vegetarian category.

You then get people like me who have tried chicken, duck, fish but no beef/pork.

The food world without meat is not that bad but need to concentrate on getting a proper protein intake.

I should mention that there is a shocking amount of prejudice against my chosen eating regime, you try to find out the origin of the fruit in a smoothie...
