300,000 jobs in public sector face the axe

I signed up with private one who operate in the same building with NHS GP, and their charges are more than acceptable - it's shocking NHS with billions paid into it can't bloody afford to provide proper quality coverage for all as it was intended. -
GPs earn over 100K / year though, which for a job for life in the public sector plus other benefits is obscene. Unfortunately I don't see this can be corrected without a major collapse and restructure occurring.Originally posted by SueEllen View Post
Lots of GPs are now salaried. They are bitter because they are not earning as much as you think and can't find a practice who wants a partner.
Dentists are self-employed as well, and like highly paid hospital consultants those who earn lots do a lot of private work.Comment

That goes back to before the bank bail outs. If I remember correctly, they were announcing the same x million for the NHS time and again at least as far back as 2005.Originally posted by threaded View PostMuch the same IMHO. The government had run out of money some time back and were regularly being caught announcing the same money in different ways. So whoever got in was doomed to make massive cuts.Behold the warranty -- the bold print giveth and the fine print taketh away.Comment

During his speech to the Labour Party's annual conference in Bournemouth in 1999, Prime Minister Tony Blair promised that everybody will have easy access to an NHS dentist within the next two years.Originally posted by SueEllen View PostIn fact dentists don't have to do any NHS work at all to survive. And in lots of places in the country finding an NHS dentist who will take on new patients is a nightmare as there are simply aren't any.
He promised a lot of bulls*** in his time.Comment

Amateurs - they should have looked at Communist Party of Soviet Union - they were promising stuff due to be delivered good 30-40 years ahead...Originally posted by Doggy Styles View PostDuring his speech to the Labour Party's annual conference in Bournemouth in 1999, Prime Minister Tony Blair promised that everybody will have easy access to an NHS dentist within the next two years.

All of them? Is this a fixed scale thing like teachers or other government-related jobs, in which case can you provide a reliable reference?Originally posted by TimberWolf View PostGPs earn over 100K / year though.
Regardless, it's a bit rich on an IT contracting forum, where many would bring in £75-125k (12 month contract at £300/500pd) working full-time, to complain someone who had to spend many years at university racking up huge debts followed by internships, shouldn't earn a decent wage.
I doubt all GPs earn a standard wage of £100k without doing private work or being a partner... and if they're doing private work or make partner they are effectively running a business in which case they're entitled to make money as they are able, just like we are.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

You will feel very differently when your binmen are only visiting once a month and there are no ratcatchers left to deal with the consequences. Contrary to the Daily Wail misinformation, not all public service jobs are for' ethnic minority disabled lesbian integration officer roles'. Most are doing the jobs you wouldn't do, for money you wouldn't get out of bed for.Originally posted by Doggy Styles View PostPaying welfare is inevitable, but it is still cheaper than paying for non-jobs.Oh, I’m sorry….I seem to be lost. I was looking for the sane side of town. I’d ask you for directions, but I have a feeling you’ve never been there and I’d be wasting my time.Comment

Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Girl earns something like 140k for 4 days work with 8 weeks holiday a year. She will probably retire at about 60 with a pension of 60k per year. Her practice is one of the top earning ones in the country though. I have no objection to someone earning that, she was top of her school year, got a place in one of the most over subscribed courses at one of the best medical schools in the world and survived 5 years in a very hard degree then worked 100 hours a week for a few years to get that salary. The job is brutal as well, I do not think any one on here can even comprehend how brutal that job is, drink problems are a major issue with Gps due to stress, I cannot imagine some of the stuff she has to deal with.Originally posted by d000hg View PostAll of them? When partners retire they are getting replaced with salaried GPs who earn about 80k, they will be expected to do about 5 years on that before they become a partner.
And you are right, I do not know why people on a contractor forum get uptight about this, I pull in 6 figures and I can go weeks without doing a bit of work due to mismanagement of resources in clientCo. WIth the amount people post on here during the day I am sure that is not unique.
I thikn we both know we are very fortunate but it is no accident and I do not feel as if either of us are getting more than what we have earned.Comment
