Surely though New Labour were really just Conservatives hiding behind a facade? The Tories bought in the free enterprise market where everyone could be their own boss and have a load of wonga, just witness the golden years of contracting and barrow boys in the City. Old Labour knew that they could not win against this Gomorraha of a vision but waiting in the wings were those who knew that by playing the 'wolf in sheeps clothing' ploy that they could win by plying their wares to mans basest instinct: Greed. The trouble is, and this is because the Tories have always been a monied persons party yet Labour never were, they could not handle the finances. Labour screwed up but don't think that the new kids on the block are going to be any better because not only aren't they real Tories, more like New Labour Tories, but they have with them as bedfellows, a party that has never had its own policies and just rides on the tailcoats of others. The country is going to get worse before it ever, if ever, gets better.

Tax raises would have happened anyway - only under Liebor there would be a lot less cuts in waste because that would hit their core vote.
