But i do prefer to imagine a world in the near future where everything is made by machines and we all have the things we need, and more and no need to fuk each other over for a percentage, like we do now.

But there will always be people wanting more even tho they've got enough, more than enough, but they still want more. Roman Abramovich, BT, EDS, Oracle, pots of money but still want more. Grim isn't it?

I well remember speaking to some old biddies in Petr, they preferred the Soviet days cos tho' they didn't get paid much, what they did get was almost 100% disposable, on nowt much I agree, but they had free housing, light and power etc, transport, all free, ur wage was to spend on urself. Still crap i know but sth to aim for rather than this dog-eat-dig-till-we-die mentally we have now?

And I'm as guilty, I can't stop striving for more, but for me it's an internal struggle, almost Roskolkovian, I see myself as an exception, which is wrong, well wrong. Napoleon and Hitler thought the same.

Capitalism creates wealth (for some) tis true, but only by taking it off someone else. The way the World is soon there will be no-one to take it off, the native have got brains. Witness Indian outsourcing.

What on earth is grim about this?? these companies create wealth and jobs and pay (which is then wasted) tax. They also create new technologies to make life easier and they enable pensioners to invest money that will look after them in their retirement. Roman Abramovich like him or not creates more joy and happiness (quite apart from the wealth) than any socialist I can think of. We need more like him and we need more EDS, BTs and Oracles. We certainly wont get any from any socialist institution.
You seem to presume that society is made of a finite amount of wealth and that capitalism channels this wealth into the hands of the few. This another utterly ridiculous myth. It doesnt. Capitalism generates an exchange of goods and services that create wealth. Like your Russian woman the trees of wealth had been chopped down and although we may think "poor woman", it was socialism that let her down in the end, by destroying all wealth creation. This is what brought the end of the communist block.

We all want to conquer the world to some level. the trick is in allowing us to do so, within reason and enabling everyone to have a fair crack at it. Can we please get away from this nonsense that socialism is somehow "good".

Try and explain to this thick pleb how wealth creation works. Is it a finite amount which we divide up "fairly"? or is it a finite amount that we all fight over?

Go on then Gordon, let's hear it. I think you are wrong, but I'm willing to be converted because unlike most people here, I am in a quandary, I know my limitations are they are manifold, so many here are of fixed opinion, defending like fuk, no quarter given, so let's here it...

Like i say, I'm pretty clueless just know what I've seen, convince me....
