Not so. There was an analysis on the radio this weekend showing that in places where Tories could have won; votes had been taken by UKIP.

I've read same tulip in the last election also that Cons were missing a handful of votes in the right places to get in - this is the "feature" of the FPTP system, so if you don't like it then it's the system that needs changing - adding 2nd preference vote to reallocate your vote if your candidate did not make top 2 seems sensible thing.
